Grepa Medical and Diagnostic Center (GMDC), a division of Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc., (Sun Life Grepa) now offers safe, convenient telemedicine services for outpatient cases nationwide. This aims to help decongest hospitals, maintain physical distance and reduce the spread of COVID-19 especially now with the threat of highly transmissible Delta variant.

The GMDC Telemedicine is an online consultation service which uses a video conferencing platform where clients can virtually ask doctors about their non-urgent health concerns while in the safety and comfort of their homes.

“We have seen how telemedicine is an extraordinary tool,” says Sun Life Grepa President Richard S. Lim. “By extending our telemedicine services outside our employees, people who are experiencing medical ailments and illnesses during this time can receive appropriate and timely medical advice without necessarily going to hospitals, minimizing the risk of being exposed to COVID-19,” he added.

In using GMDC Telemedicine, clients can also enjoy using a convenient scheduling system to avoid long queues and waiting time.

GMDC doctors are available from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The consultation fee ranges from P650 to P1,000, depending on the nature of the inquiry. The consultation fee can be paid through RCBC Bank Transfer. For clients who are health card (HMO) holders, they may contact their local HMO for a Letter of Authorization. For corporate clients, the fee for the consultation service is charged to their account.

Interested parties may call the GMDC coordinator at 8886.65.86 to 87 or email gmdc@sunlifegrepa.com to set an appointment.

Over the past year, more and more people have started to understand the importance of having a good health insurance plan resulting to an increased demand for health protection products. Getting sick does not exempt anyone, both children and adults alike, and with the rising cost of health services, access to quality medical facilities and hospitalization expenses can be financially strenuous.

This is the reason why Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (Sun Life Grepa), a major life insurance company in the country, extends its Critical Illness Benefit (CIB) Rider to minors, starting from 30 days old up to 17 years old. The CIB Rider is initially offered only to clients who are 18 to 60 years old.

“While no parent wants to consider the possibility of their child becoming sick, it is important to be prepared for any untoward circumstances and unforeseen health emergencies as one critical illness can be a tremendous financial burden,” Richard S. Lim, Sun Life Grepa President said. “With critical illness insurance, you won’t have to worry about securing funds needed for treatment so you can get focus on what really matters: taking care of your children and keeping your family safe and protected,” he added.

The CIB Rider is an optional benefit which can be attached to select Sun Life Grepa traditional life and variable unit-linked plans. It pays a guaranteed lump sum benefit in case the insured is diagnosed with any of the 36 covered critical illnesses such as Heart Attack, Stroke or Cancer, among others, provided that the said diagnosis meets the definitions and provisions of the policy. Existing policyholders of Sun Life Grepa may also opt to attach the CIB rider during policy anniversaries subject to the terms and conditions of the company.

When you have a clear picture of what you are aiming for, working towards your target is easy. With a combination of having a well-thought-out action plan and the right partner, you can achieve the big vision you have for your life and your family on your set timeline.

To help clients bring their financial goals to reality, Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (Sun Life Grepa), a major life insurance company in the country, developed the SLG MyFuture Fund, a target-date fund that is designed to provide a distinct and simple investment solution that helps clients start building their wealth, maximize their money’s earning potential, and reach their goals according to their target date, while enjoying guaranteed life insurance protection until the fund matures. SLG MyFuture is a fund option for any Sun Life Grepa peso variable insurance plans.

“Planning for your long-term road map should not be complicated. Whether your vision for a brighter future is owning your dream house, securing your child’s education, starting a business, or enjoying a comfortable retirement, you would want to achieve these milestones within your target timeline. Through the SLG MyFuture Fund, we can help you meet your goals in life on time,” says Richard S. Lim, Sun Life Grepa President.

Expertly managed by Sun Life Grepa’s professional fund managers, SLG MyFuture Fund comes in six different maturity dates that policyholders can choose from: 2030, 2035, 2040, 2045, 2050 and 2055. SLG MyFuture Fund follows a pre-determined glide path which maximizes earning potential in the earlier years through higher asset allocation in equities, and then automatically transitions to wealth preservation by shifting the funds’ allocation towards more fixed income assets as the fund nears maturity. This ensures the fund’s exposure to risk is minimized as the maturity date nears so that whatever gains the funds made in the earlier years are better preserved. Moreover, because they have availed of Sun Life Grepa’s variable insurance plans, clients are assured of life insurance coverage so they can have peace of mind knowing that their family is prepared no matter what happens.

With SLG MyFuture Fund, one can start their own journey towards a brighter future in three easy steps: 1) Set a target date for your specific financial goal, 2) Choose an SLG MyFuture Fund that matures closest to your target date, and 3) Pair the fund with the most suitable Sun Life Grepa peso variable unit-linked product, which includes Sun Grepa Power Builder 1, 5, 10 or 100.

“SLG MyFuture Fund takes into account the client’s financial needs, their investment time horizon and tolerance for risk,” Lim said. “For example, if a client intends to build their dream home after 10 years, they could opt for SLG MyFuture Fund 2030. At the start, our fund managers will invest the fund mostly in equities to maximize its growth. But when the maturity date nears, in this case, 2030, they will shift it to more conservative assets in order to preserve the wealth accumulated during the early years in anticipation of the client’s timeline to build their dream home,” he added.

With COVID-19 cases still at a high and more COVID patients opting to recover at home due to crowded hospital facilities, Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (Sun Life Grepa) hosted a webinar that focused on home care and home management steps for families with members who may be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms of the virus.

In the webinar entitled: “When COVID-19 Hits Home”, Doctor Anelyn Reyes, a Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist and Chairman of Infection Prevention or Control of multiple hospitals, discussed valuable tips in providing care for a COVID-19 patient at home.

According to Dr. Reyes, home isolation measures to be observed include: wearing of face masks and face shields inside the house, staying in a well-ventilated single room with its own bathroom, having one’s own trash bag/bin in the room, avoiding aerosol generating procedures like home nebulization (unless deemed necessary), and assigning a household member as the sole primary caretaker.

She also advised that the caretaker must monitor the temperature of the patient twice a day, and check the blood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter.

“It is important to still follow the basic safety protocols like washing your hands often and disinfecting highly touched objects. These protocols are proven to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It is also best to avail of the COVID-19 vaccination because it is one of the ways to stop the pandemic,” she said.

For its part, Sun Life Grepa emphasized that life insurance policies can help cushion the financial impact of the pandemic. All of its life insurance products provide guaranteed benefits to support beneficiaries in the untimely passing of a policyholder due to any cause, including those that resulted from COVID-19. Likewise, its hospitalization plans can help manage expenses of hospital confinement, whether COVID-related or not.

“Sun Life Grepa is always looking for ways to be part of the solution to our health challenges,” says Richard S. Lim, President of Sun Life Grepa. “As we work with the rest of the country in taking steps to end the pandemic, we are here for people who also want to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones from life’s uncertain moments in the future.”

This webinar was part of a virtual forum series held by Sun Life Grepa Healthcare, Sun Life Grepa’s group insurance channel. For inquiries, clients and interested parties may email groupsales@sunlifegrepa.com.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take its toll on the economy, the effect can be felt the hardest by the segment which comprises of 99.5% of the total businesses in the country – the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). During these times, securing the overall well-being of their workforce has become increasingly important for these smaller companies.

“With Smart Care Plus, we hope to make it easier for employers to provide affordable insurance and protection for their employees and support them and their families especially now that the outlook of the COVID-19 pandemic is still unknown,” says Peter Miranda, Vice President for Sun Life Grepa Healthcare.

He added, “The financial security of an employee does not solely rely on monetary compensation in his payroll slip. It is enhanced when supported by meaningful employee programs that include preparation and protection against life’s uncertainties.”

Sun Life Grepa’s Smart Care Plus offers a robust protection plan complete with benefits such as Group Yearly Renewable Term Life which pays a lumpsum amount in case of an employee’s death due to any cause including those arising from COVID-19, as well as Total and Permanent Disability Income Benefit and Terminal Illness Benefit. Likewise, it provides Accidental Death, Dismemberment and Disablement Benefit with Medical Reimbursement Benefit.

Other package options include health benefits such as Critical Illness Benefit, which provides guaranteed cash benefit in case an employee is diagnosed with covered critical illnesses like heart attack, stroke or cancer, and the Group Hospital Cash Benefit, which helps replace the income of their employees in case of hospital confinement due to illness and accident.

Smart Care Plus has readily available premium rates that are designed to fit the budget of MSMEs and doesn’t require medical examination for its covered employees.
